End of year report

In April we reached the end of the first year of Inner Room, the poetry project I’m running on behalf of the Parish of Central Exeter. In response to very heartening feedback from the end-of-year survey (92% rating it ‘excellent’ and 8% ‘good’), the management team has decided to continue the project for another year. That’ll keep me out of mischief!

In the first year, we held 111 sessions for 21 groups (234 individual places), involving just under 150 contact hours. In this pandemic year, it seems that participants especially appreciated the way Inner Room opened up on Zoom when so much else had to close down. The survey feedback ran to more than 10 A4 pages… And, speaking for myself, it was a pleasure and a privilege to accompany creative readers and creative writers on their poetry journey. Thank you so much to all the participants, who make the Inner Room such a rich experience – and to the management team for all their support.

If you’re interested, you can find out more about Inner Room here. Do email us at the address on that page (or use this contact form) if you’d like to join the mailing list to be notified of future events. Phase 4, running over the summer, is fully booked, but Phase 5 starts in the autumn and there may be places available.
