Beginnings from endings

Here’s a quick update for you, covering the last couple of months. In early November, Greta Stoddart, Elaine Beckett, Gill Barr and I performed How To End It Well, the finale of Exeter Literary Festival. In fact, it ended the festival so well that we’re planning to take it on tour… every ending is a new beginning. I am delighted to have returned to the pages of that fine poetry magazine, The Rialto, with a poem called As I walked away – thank you, Michael Mackmin. Finally, I am among the winners of the Manchester Cathedral 600th anniversary poetry competition, with That angel hovering. This poem was inspired by the carved wooden angel in the photograph. She dates back to c 1500-1506, and can be found in the choirstalls at the cathedral. A suitable note to end on, the evening before Christmas Eve…
